At first I had mixed feelings but after repeat readings, and seeing how intently he listens to it, I've kind of fallen in love with this book.

Ideal for pre-schoolers and perfect for reading together, this book is sure to become a family favourite. They haven't reached for it too much themselves, but do enjoy it when we read it and like to point out the bears. Sure enough, Little Bear slips but with Dad’s help they reach the river in the end and have a lovely time.Hughes’ detailed pencil illustrations show incredible texture, from the sweeping strokes of the bears’ fur to the gnarled trees and brushy forest. The little ones in my family so loved SeanTaylor's earlier book about the owl who is a master of disguise, I bought this as soon as I could.
