Description

A young girl and a very strange creature, thought to be extinct but clearly not, set out on a wonderful quest across a strange and dangerous land. The Arsai’s vision paints a dire picture for their planet, as the bird Kest Ke Belenus—now awoken from a restless slumber—threatens to destroy all the Lights of Irpa. The artwork is absolutely incredible - so cute and alive and dancing with textures and layers of light. The backdrop of the forest settings and particular nature scenes even for instance, Bea’s grandfather’s house + the more quieter stops during the quest evoke a cozy vibe for sure, however it wasn’t exactly the balance I look for when it comes to my cozy fantasy though I would still HIGHLY recommend this one. I like the book–it’s a light read, but it has enough complexity within the story to keep you interested.

Bea gets overwhelmed easily and is always 'what ifs', where Cad jumps right in and does things to know the outcome in the end. But she is also a hero, jumping in when she is needed, bravely fighting off foes and having cold feet (literally) along the way. Kazu Kibuishi, bestselling author of Amulet Probert’s debut graphic novel is both inventive and familiar, with unique characters in a fresh fantasy world embarking on a classic quest.

C'était tout doux et pour le coup on part sur une vraie aventure, ça se lit comme une petite épopée dont les personnages principaux viennent nous conquérir avec leurs personnalités touchantes. Because the plot unfolds from one point to the next, the worldbuilding feels like it definitely could have more development time, alongside with the interesting lore and grander plot.

It features the characters Bea and Cad, unlikely friends in an adventure that's a bit over their heads and takes place in Irpa, a land without a sun.Faith Erin Hicks, New York Times bestselling and Eisner Award-winning creator An invigorating, original fantasy that’s entertaining and reflective in equal measure. All that changes one day when, while walking through the woods, Bea meets Cad, a member of the Galdurians, an ancient race thought to be long-extinct. He is keen to find the famous Pig Wizard to help him track down more of his race, and is pleasantly surprised to learn who Bea is. When the sun was extinguished 500 years earlier, the Galdurians invented and built floating Lights to ward off the overwhelming darkness, and now, though the Galdurians are believed to be extinct, the Lights shine on. One day, while looking for plants, Beatrice meets a big, friendly and kind of goofy stranger, named Cad, in the forest.
