About this deal

Yes it has ever so slight samesy situations as Harry Potter, like orphanened, magic and there’s a kind of school element I guess. There were apparently other verbs that were used even more (73 chuckles vs 17 smirks), but once I started noticing it it just seemed like all any of the characters were doing was smirking and it got really distracting. But after a disturbing twist of events, Harley quickly realizes that her past is darker than she could ever have imagined.

This author, whether a rising star or a seasoned veteran, has crafted the pages that whisk readers away on this series' journey. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. I bought this book on the basis of the number of very positive reviews, particularly those comparing the book to the Harry Potter series. Remember, the journey through a book series is not just about reaching the end but also about the memories created along the way. That being said the rest of the books don’t look quite as much as soft porn, so maybe I’ll give it a go.Sometimes a book goes temporarily out of print - and sometimes no audio version has ever been recorded. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. Audible wants to give you the most complete selection we can and we'll keep adding series and filling in gaps as quickly as possible. However the book does have some positive elements (hence the three star rating); it is well written, there are a few well crafted action sequences and the story had a couple of original ideas around how magic might be used in a magical society.

After she witnesses a monster attack and aids another Magical in stopping said attack and capturing the monster, she learns that there’s a whole secret magical community out there, and she is not alone. Each book represents a chapter in the broader narrative, introducing new twists, turns, and perhaps the occasional talking dragon (disclaimer: dragons depend on the genre). Which is when a mysterious and annoyingly arrogant young warlock named Wade Crowley steps in, introducing her to a hidden world of beasts, magicals, and covens riddled with secrets - as well as clues about her murky past. But she has no clue where she got these freakish powers because she spent her childhood jumping from home to home in the foster system, and her father left her with nothing more than a cryptic note. She has been passed through quite a number of foster homes and has had some very bad experiences in all but the last one; The last foster home was with the Smith family.

This book is incredible in its own right, and once you get past the slight similaries at the start, and they are only slight similarities; you get to the thumping heart of the book and when you reach that point, you will be totally hooked on it and won't want to stop reading for anything.

I don’t mind some romance but I don’t read fantasy for the romance so it should at least be secondary. It kept my attention to the end, I didn't realise who the culprit was for all the mischief going on in both worlds right up until they were revealed, which was great!Additionally, we occasionally include insights into the writing process, thematic elements, or how each book fits into the larger tapestry of the series.

I am really looking forward to reading more about the world of the Magicals and I want to know more about the Purge. Able to read other peoples emotions, she is invaluable at her job in the casino where she's employed catching card sharks, and she's very good at her job which is in the human world. He is absolutely fascinating and I hope the rest of the series has a lot more focus on him, I just adore him.

The book reads much more like a young adult novel aimed at teenage girls (lots of good looking muscular young men falling in love with the heroine and she can't understand why yadda-yadda). It gripped my heart and drew me into the magical world Harley discovers, and I found myself unwilling to put it down. With the help of Wade and her new friends, she must figure out who the traitor is and why they're targeting her. To answer a question as vital as the number of coffee cups consumed while reading, there are exactly 20 books in the Harley Merlin series. As she begins to learn who she is, she uncovers a terrible hidden past about herself and her family.
