If you like fragrances such as Aramis Classic, Dior Fahrenheit EDT (from 1988), and Bijan For Men, you are quite likely going to enjoy Lagerfeld Classic. this is one of my truly cowgirl perfumes and I think would’ve feasibly named something with Mojave in it tbh.

The difference is in the aldehydes, which give it a more delicate appearance and an orange color, not green. My grandfather and my father used to wear this frequently, classic scent, but i guess after several reformulations not the performance that it had back in the day. It was the manliest cologne you could think of, in a slick bottle adorned with a silver bull horn cap. This Eau de Toilette is a masculine and powerful scent that has become a timeless favorite among men worldwide. I will end this review saying one last thing,if you have patience and allow this fragrance to develop into the beautiful scent that it is you will not be disappointed.

Initial spray greets me with citrus and green notes, which quickly turns to a powdery, oriental vibe. Some say it is a bit dated and while I would agree, I believe it is still very wearable but probably more suited to an older man.

Classic Grey opens up with a soft and artificial lavender note, accompanied by dissonant laurel leaf. I so long for the days when men's colognes were, arguably, intense enough to maintain their projection and longevity for 8 hours and would rival most mens EDP's today.Well, he went there, checked all the boxes, and reinforced his visual image, which ended up becoming his trademark.

So yeah, I really enjoy it, but I also have to say that it isn’t a fragrance for everyone and the main reason - not insignificant - is that it’s a soft fragrance with a shy projection. It was the mid-'80s and it stopped me in my tracks, only briefly, and then I was off like a flash to catch up to him and ask what gorgeous fragrance he was wearing. It's not until hours later that this fragrance really comes to life,it has been on my skin now for a total of 8hrs and l believe it has finally reached its best quality. I remember the scene like it was yesterday; me running up the street like a demented mad woman after a total stranger, because he had walked passed me and I was overwhelmed by how divine he smelled. When l first spray Lagerfeld Classic I get a big blast of spicy citrus amber notes and it pretty much stays this way for awhile. It’s mature sophisticated and most importantly extremely complex which I can’t say for a lot of scents these days. starts off with a sweet and fresh orange rind, which I think gets that fresh breath of western desert air from the tarragon top note (anise-y licorice-y goodness). The sprayer, a precise instrument, releases the essence with impeccable finesse—atomizing the juice and allowing it to unfold gracefully on your skin.

It develops sweet and soft with tobacco, flowers, strong musks, tonka and a slightly agee amber that suffocates in the long run. oz splash bottles and I remember my grandmother telling me I'm old enough to start wearing cologne and be different to impress the girls in my class, lol. What I don't understand at all are the comparisons to Geoffrey Beene, Habit Rouge, Guerlain Vetyver or Halston. Tabac and amber are beautiful, the vanilla is very discreete and the aldehides are perfect cold, and there is a lavender note which is just so nice. There should be two separate entries here on Fragrantica for the original Lagerfeld Cologne, and the reformulated/renamed Lagerfeld Classic.
