The base is the original La Nuit, and you can read my review on that page to get a fragrance description on that. Trying and trying, L'Oreal were taking less and less care of their first baby, who was poorly fed and received no parental care.

So it is very safe to say that reformulations have ruined the performance of this once beastly fragrance.This will always remind me of him and every time I smell it I get brought back to my childhood and the good time’s I’ve had with him. It's not that this is fragrance primarily suitable when going on a date or going to the club, it's that this is a darker, more mysterious approach on the original L'Homme while remaining charming to the crowd. At later stages the emergence of sandlewood makes its way creating a creamy texture ressembling a coconut accord. One of my favorite things about this one is that it doesn't project too hard or leave much of a sillage. Yes it’s easy to get lost in all the flankers of L’homme and LNDLH but I have yet to smell one I don’t thoroughly enjoy so keep going guys, you’re doing this right.

However, they were satisfied that almost everyone liked their child and his divine aroma, and that people were ready to pay a lot for the possibility to take away a part of this pleasure. Top notes are Cardamom and Grapefruit; middle notes are Leather, Lavender and Clary Sage; base notes are Tonka Bean, Sandalwood, Patchouli and Vetiver. As a beginner I find it exciting to pick out fragrances for different seasons of the year or even for different occasions and scenarios.

As earlier indicated, the fragrance does perform very well – Lasting cleanly through entire work days with a few feet of projection around the first two hours of application and gradually growing closer and eventually resting as a skin scent which you won’t have to work very hard to locate at the end of your day. Although I generally like this, it’s a pass for the weak top-mid performance and the syrupy deep base.

A slightly sharp, but also clean vetiver that melds with the cedar and lavender with the cardamom carrying through the whole composition. I do enjoy the aromatic open—I particularly smell the lavender, which is present in the open and the heart imo. Settling into the mid, the cardamon seeds is slowly becoming the star of the show by taking minuscule steps forward while the Cedar and Vetiver takes huge steps backward into the background. This not because it isn't artistic or whatever banal you may think of but just because it smells wrong. So after really giving my nose a workout by going through perhaps hundreds of perfumes through the years , I've have come to the conclusion that this is my all time favourite.Tried it a few minutes ago here in Austria - so for me after the first impressions its way too sweet in the beginning, but than dries down to a non boozy and more leathery version of CH Men Privé! Then the drydown is full of Prismantol, a sandalwood molecule that also smells like cardamom, with that dill aspect. Not much lavender but I accidentally licked the finger that I got some cologne on and it the lavender was VERY present in the way it tasted. I will definitely rock this one in spring and summer at night at least 3 to 4 times a month for sure! I feel a YSL fragrance, at EDP concentration no less, should be giving better performance than this.
