Better yet, both boys are allowed to explore and show their emotions in a safe space where neither of them are judged for, say, crying. As far as I can tell, Doukyuusei is one of the best works of Nakamura and is indeed another promising title. While the plot of Doukyuusei is not groundbreaking, somehow the exact feeling of a fleeting childhood crush is perfectly captured by Nakamura.

Sajou Rihito no Chichi to Sono Buka This article refers to the manga formerly known as Futarigurashi. Adjective) "showing gentleness and concern or sympathy" A simple word, and a very very very dumbed down review for an entire series, but it is the only word I can think of to describe my adoration for this series. I would have enjoyed the story more if these high school kids didn't have to deal with a child predator butting into their relationship.

It is quite difficult to discern who is talking and following conversations is nearly impossible the first time around. We watch from the beginning, when second-year student Hikaru Kusakabe notices during one practice for the school’s chorus festival that fellow student Rihito Sajou isn’t singing along.

I really missed more of the peaceful and cute scenes that would allow us to really get to know the characters, story and setting better. I will not disregard the fact that it felt like the story could've been more than it was, if you shake it up a bit and flesh it all out, but I feel that Nakamura-sensei made it like that so we DO actually feel the bottled-up soda pop of love that Kusakabe and Sajou-kun are experiencing. It wasn't just fluff like this one, it went deeper into the thoughts and feelings of the characters. While Doukyuusei is a universe where students are always potential victims for their professors, it’s also a universe where gay relationships, at least, aren’t seen as anything terrible or disgusting. However, while all of these stories are a sweet little taste of gay romance, none of them manage to completely leave the unfortunate yaoi tropes behind.

Mangaka Asumiko Nakamura's other works will also be allowed expression as part of the Doukyusei-Classmates world. We aren't even sure who the main characters are at first and who is narrating the story, nor are we given an introduction to tell us what our primary protagonist's name is. Maybe a certain feeling, maybe a specific memory from your childhood or a sensation that you like in your current day to day life. BUT: The mangakas herself stated it was her first BL, so she didn't mind if she used overused and cliche plots.
