No parents mean they can do whatever they want, whenever they want, and that they can make all their dreams come true (like the little kid who put sharks into the swimming pool, or the kids who decided that trampolines would be a good idea as transport). It's quite a chunker, but the font is big and it has a lot of illustrations, so don't be intimidated by the size! So – along with her friends Norman and Ella – Lucy sets off on an unbelievable adventure into a topsy-turvy, back-to-front and inside-out new world .

Lucy reminds me a lot of myself when I was that age, although I do believe she's a tad bit braver than me, and the side characters that also show up are equally entertaining. Of course I could have suspected it, but I was so engrossed in the story that I missed the hints to it.This was a fun story, about waste and how it can be better disposed of, but also of friendships and working together as a team.

This book will take you on an exciting journey underneath your bed and is already a bedtime favourite (for those brave enough!Now it's not very nice to use little girls as live bait to catch monsters, but, if you do ever have to, then it's always best to use an annoying little sprog like Ella, just in case they do actually end up getting snatched. The one word that Tom Fletcher has used repeatedly to describe his second novel in the lead up to its release is ‘disgusting‘, and I have to say I completely agree with him (in a good way!

I do highly recommend you guys listen to the audio book for this, as Tom reads bits and pieces himself, adding warnings before scary chapters and such, which is really fun! Norman is eccentric, skilful and sweet and I was pleased to see a girl of colour in Ella, the sassiest six-year-old you will ever meet! This is fun at first, but when children are free to run wild someone needs to step up, an unlikely hero and thats when Lucy discovers the Creakers under her bed.This was an endearing story about making new friends, having faith in yourself, and doing what was right. Most of the kids have no clue what to do, so it is up to Lucy to take charge and not only stop anyone from burning their houses down but to figure out how to get the adults back.
