While many books of this kind can be over crowded with facts, this one wasn't - a definite perk in my opinion. Page turns cleverly generate and alleviate suspense, making it an integral part of the storytelling experience. Diaz and Owens supplement the boy’s descriptions with introductions to each nation (“Jordan is ruled by a monarchy, which means that the king or queen in charge makes important decisions for the country”) and sidebars. I think this picture book would be best utilized in 2nd grade and up to ensure that the bulkiness of the information is both informative but also attainable to the students that you read this book too.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I would almost include all information both in the native language presented alongside the English language which would help readers understand this book who speak those particular languages.I liked that the pages feel friendly and they’re not too busy and over-stimulating with information and illustrations (everything is nice and neat). Along the way, each friend introduces us to their country's environment and customs, and shares interesting facts about their country’s culture, language, food, geography, wildlife, landmarks and more. In the classroom, this book could be so helpful in the classroom library for students to learn more about other cultures in the world. I was especially captivated by the amount of information that was shared about each place in the world.Playful illustrations done with stylized realism lend warmth and whimsy to the book, making each locale feel welcoming. The narrator in this book visits friends in 13 different countries, narrating each of them through sampling foods, viewing land marks, attending cultural events and more. This book teaches about the environment, customs, language, food, and much more for each place that he visits. Each entry discussed the climate, capital city, geography, famous sites, food, and gave you a general idea of how a family might spend their day.
