I looked all over for this album since it is my favorite and this vinyl has become my favorite in my collection and I think it will stay that way for a long time. One of my favorite mixtapes ever and adding it to the collection was awesome, not to mention the cool white and pink marble themed discs that look cool. Pitchfork Media gave the mixtape an 8 out of 10 rating and praised his old soul, and Golden age sound.

Tom Breihan of Stereogum wrote: "What confounds me is that a high school kid from Flatbush is making music this era-specific, and, more importantly, that he's so good at it. Featuring production from other Pro Era members, as well as some J Dilla and MF DOOM beats, the tape was released to general critical acclaim.

The instrumental of track 9 "Funky Ho's" was changed upon the re-release, removing an uncleared sample so that the album could be placed on digital streaming services and released on vinyl. A co-founder of the hip-hop collective Pro Era, Joey has released two acclaimed mixtapes and a debut album before exiting his teens. Reviewing the mixtape for AllMusic, Paul Simpson declared that it, "rightfully remains one of the most praised rap mixtapes of the 2010s.With the standout tracks, “ Waves”, “ Survival Tactics”, and “ Snakes”, the 15 track album features production from Chuck Strangers, Lord Finesse, MF Doom, and J Dilla, as well as guest appearances from Pro Era members Kirk Knight, CJ Fly, Nyck Caution, Rokamouth, Dessy Hinds, Dyemond Lewis, T’nah Apex and the late Capital Steez. This 17 year old kid creates authentic 90's era hip hop to perfection, features production from MF DOOM, J DILLA, LORD FINESSE and more. On the second LP the center hole is a bit small, but it’s a quick fix (look on Reddit for an easy solution).
