Description

While we have carefully copied the surface texture of the original prop, due to the limitations of the injection moulding process and the method of creating a pattern on the inside of a mould, there are slight differences between the Sonic Screwdriver URC and the original prop’s surface finish. Other individuals had similar devices, such as the sonic pen (which appeared to serve a near-identical function) used by Miss Foster ( TV: Partners in Crime) and the sonic blaster used first by Captain Jack Harkness ( TV: The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances) and later River Song. TV: The Empty Child) Subsequent incarnations gave it even wider functionality, such as the ability to hack into computers, ( TV: Smith and Jones) provide geolocation ( TV: Evolution of the Daleks) and actively defend against some types of assault weapons by frying their internal mechanics and causing the weapons to burst into flames and spark from the inside.

Recently previewed at San Diego Comic Con, the new 10th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote has been painstakingly 3D scanned from the original prop, kindly loaned to The Wand Company by David Tennant himself, and is crammed full of technology, and looks, feels and works just like the real thing. But this isn’t for your Venusian espresso - it’s a rather cool stand for your sonic, with a magnetic point for which to display the remote in a dazzling, timey-wimey, vertical position.

The remote comes with a die cast metal stand for when you want to simply show off the remote and bask in its brilliance. Programming the sonic to learn the gestures is incredibly easy, and nestled beneath one of the inner trays of the black carry case is a handy instruction manual which is simple to follow and will get you up and running in no time at all.

The sounds that you hear when the Tenth Doctor is using the Sonic Screwdriver in the TV show are sound effects, added after the filming has finished in the post-production stage. Rubbertoe Replicas is pleased to present the iconic "wide slider" Ninth and Tenth Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver!

TV: The Day of the Doctor) However, the Thirteenth Doctor, having lost the Twelfth Doctor's sonic screwdriver, created her own version. Like any sensitive instrument, it takes a bit of practice to master the Tenth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver. Also due to heavy use, the original prop’s emitter head has acquired accidental damage in the form of nicks and scratches. It works as both a remote (with programmable movements) and a screen-accurate cosplay piece or displayable item. This is a 1:1 replica of the 10th Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver and measures 17cm in length and is 6cm tall on the stand.
