She had a chance of a normal relationship and some happiness, but she threw it away so she could spend the rest of her life being Matt's doormat, it was such a depressing ending. The conclusion is perhaps a little too tidy, if I'm being objective, and I found one or two of the decisions made to be slightly unlikely; but I do like endings that tie up all the loose threads, so I'm not complaining.Luckily, at this point, the family are thrown a lifeline in The Spanish House and they immediately up sticks and move to the country and try and settle into the difference that living in a small village community offers. Other reviewers have mentioned that they didn’t really see the point in the Laura/Matt “story on the side,” but for me, I found it a nice addition.
