It's your destination for everything beautiful, authentic, artistic, and made the Moroccan way with love. To make Moroccan mint tea, the only ingredients you will need are gunpowder loose tea, a generous amount of fresh mint leaves, a few aromatics (optional), and sugar. Maghrebi mint tea ( Maghrebi Arabic: أتاي, atay; [1] Arabic: الشاي بالنعناع, romanized: aš-šhāy bin-na'nā'; [2] Berber languages: ⴰⵜⴰⵢ, romanized: atay), also known as Moroccan mint tea [3] [4] and Algerian mint tea, [5] [6] [7] is a North African preparation of gunpowder green tea with spearmint leaves and sugar. Add mint (fresh or dried) and make sure it is all covered with water, otherwise, it may leave your tea with a bitter taste.

This blend includes a stronger 'gunpowder' green tea which you'll see as dark, almost black rolled leaves. This is changing a bit; it is becoming more common to serve two teapots on a serving tray—one traditionally sweet, the other lightly sweetened or not at all. The ratios below are for a small pot of tea and are approximate, as tea leaves vary in quality and strength. Moroccan Mint is also known as Spearmint or Nana Mint and was once originally known as crisped mint.

Sugar: White table sugar is the most common sweetener for this tea, though you can substitute honey or agave. Refreshing and sweet, mint teas are popular across northern Africa, where you might find them referred to as nana tea or Algerian tea, depending on where you are. Steep: Fill serving glass with hot water, then add the infuser filled with the cleaned gunpowder green tea leaves, along with fresh mint and sugar.
