I really like Luca Turin's reviews, they are very funny, but sometimes it's hard to believe we are testing the same frag.So far I can not detect anything that would qualify this for masterpiece status, but it is enjoyable and pretty enough, especially when the florals really come into play. Unfolds on your skin with a fascinating blend of tropical wetness, zesty freshness and bursting florally. I have to say the bottle is very beautiful and the fragrance itself is a soft and warm citrus floral with definite hyacinth notes in my opinion. I love many white floral notes and accords, like jasmine and gardenia, and their corresponding flowers in real life, especially outside. Rather than being tropical, this smells like a white floral jasmine and honeysuckle bomb, with hints of purple floral hyacinth.

Enter Pacifica Califoria Star Jasmine, similar hauntingly beautiful summer floral with a soft woody base, NO HEADACHE! Many white flower fragrances smell more like hothouse plants, grown in humid greenhouses and conservatories, warm and somewhat stifling. There is no discernible woody base, as such - but, there is a hint of what I would describe as "woody stems".

Exotic brightly coloured birds dance their displays in the rich green trees, amazingly beautiful orchids drip with with sparkling dew, a crystal clear, warm blue lagoon invites you for a swim, brightly coloured butterflies flit by in a sunny glade, exotic friuts hang from the trees tempting you to taste, anything you wish for can be there! The composition includes a lot of exotic flowers (this is so typical for Estee Lauder, who loved flowers), rare fruits and woods. For me, many of her perfumes seem to have this weird freeze dried flowers wrapped in cellophane smell.

It’s an idea, a conception, of flowers, but personally I’d prefer the real ones, without the ozonic saltiness. This fragrance is described as "exotic", but on me, past the first, short-lived white-flowers whiff of jasmine and gardenia, it smells a bit like sea-spray with a hint of cucumber and oysters.If I wore this all day, the sharpness might give me a headache (took another sniff, yep, I have a headache). Spraying it feels as if I've indulged in an intoxicating floral cocktail, one both shaken and stirred. This is not a light, happy, sunshine floral, but more like a dark house in New Orleans on a summer night, late at night, when the heat is still in the air and humid, with some sweet and heavy decay in the air. When the creamy and waxy elements are absent because the florals are constructed, you get Matisse rather than Maxfield Parrish. Side note: I have a little L'Artisan Bucoliques de Provence left on my arm from earlier today, and it's mixing with BP to make the most gorgeous freshly powdered after a shower scent.

Didn't like the fruity smell, thought it was too strong and smelled "weird" in combination with the other ingredients. Because of this I'd save it for rainy or cold days, it gives me that nostaglic feeling of sitting on the beach with the waves lapping around my feet.
