No teleconverters work with this lens. The RF 1.4× and RF 2× extenders both need to extend into the mount of the lens, and this lens has glass there so they interfere and won't mount.

Filters last a lifetime, so you may as well get the best. The Hoya HD3 stays cleaner than the others since it repels oil and dirt, and will outlast this lens. The Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L is made to Canon's top professional standards, exactly like their 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II. As I showed at Sample Images, it's ultra-sharp corner-to-corner, even shot wide-open at f/2.8, at any focal length. The only limitations to sharpness will be your skill as a photographer; the optics of this lens are essentially perfect. The metal 77mm filter thread is a nice change from some of the plastic garbage Nikon sold us in earlier years. Filters spin off and spin on easily with little worry for cross-threading. At 100mm, it's a very little bit softer at f/2.8 in the center, and softer in the corners, sharpening up in the center by f/4 and by f/5.6 in the corners.

Because the barrel now extends, rather than focusing internally as its DSLR predecessor does, it's the shortest 70-200mm f/2.8 lens around. It's just 146mm when zoomed down to its 70mm focal length –far shorter than the 199mm of the EF version. While at 200mm it's ever-so-slightly longer than the EF, for travel and carrying around the RF version is a ridiculously compact option that you can even stand upright in your camera bag.
