Good Price Point –Considering the extensive feature set and the full standalone capacity the SC Live 4 is an aggressively priced controller. Excellent value for money. Pioneer stepped out of its comfort zone with the OPUS-QUAD. Multiple innovations set it apart from other Pioneer offerings. Most notable is the unique design aesthetic. But beyond appearance, it is also one of the most comprehensive 4-channel standalone controllers available.

Contour: Use this slider to adjust the slope of the crossfader curve. Slide towards the left for a smooth fade (mixing) or slide to the right for a sharp cut (scratching).

All-in-one DJ controllers tend to be fairly expensive, and while the SC Live 2 is by no means cheap, it is still noticeably more affordable than some of the other options on this list. Despite the lower price, you still get access to all the core features you need, including a full mixer section, capable jogwheels, and a fantastic screen. In terms of audio quality, the PRIME-GO DJ Console doesn't compromise. With 24bit/48kHz capability and balanced XLR and TRS master and booth outputs, you are more than flexible enough for a mobile gig or house party. Denon's Prime Go DJ Controller even lets you use your mobile data to stream music from a streaming platform of your choice. TIDAL is the first compatible streaming service, although a firmware update will add more streaming services. Endless creative mixing possibilities For DJs who already own a Prime controller and want a second one for music preparation, it’s a great device – you can charge it and sit with it on your knee, laptop-style, working on your sets and music in your headphones. Likewise it could accompany you in journeys, in hotel rooms and so on. Analogue Output: Master, Balanced +18dBu (maximum) +4dBu (unity) Master, Unbalanced +15dBu (maximum) 0dBu (unity) Booth +18dBu (maximum) +4dBu (unity) Headphone Output < 40mW When this device was launched, the general consensus was, “It looks great, I love it… but what would I use it for?”

That comes down to the metal build, the bright, high quality screen, the pro knobs (all bolted to the underlying metal plate), the pro inputs and outputs. It feel like “bigger” gear, shrunk, not a plastic copy of pro gear that you just know won’t stand abuse. It’s hard to have a conversation like this without mentioning that for many DJs, the whole point is to familiarize themselves with rekordbox and a CDJ type of setup, as they are typically considered to be the club and industry standard. Though, it’s worth mentioning that Engine devices can read Rekordbox libraries, but not the other way around. I got some hands-on time with a unit at a Denon DJ press event, and this article and the accompanying video are my first, hands-on review. Expect a full review from us in due course. The hardware Incorporating acapellas (vocal only versions of songs) in your DJ sets is a technique as old as the hills. Recently, DJ software has started to incorporate real-time “stems separation” features (stems separation being the ability to solo or mute the vocals and other parts of songs, such as drums, instruments and basslines). The question is: … Continued Users can now sync tempo with external hardware using Ableton Link over both wired and wireless networks. Once Ableton Link has been enabled, an orange link icon will be shown in the top right of the toolbar providing the number of linked devices, sync lead tempo, and phase meter showing the current beat position. When synced, the tempo will match the tempo of the longest playing device. The lead tempo can be adjusted from any device and all other linked devices will automatically follow. It’s a shame the screen is flat. I tried and tried, but it didn’t get any easier. I found myself leaning over the unit too much just to read the screen. In short: It can be hard to see. This little laptop stand folds up to nothing, and works great with the Denon DJ Prime GO (you can see it in use in the video linked to above). Once again I’ll give my top recommendation in this category (assuming I had no other information)… and that is the PRIME 4. The nature of standalone systems means that they are overall simpler than DJ controller setups. With the laptop out of the way, there’s a smaller footprint and fewer wires to worry about.

It also supports full control of Serato if you do want to use it as a DJ controller (as of early 2022). If you don’t have a preference, you can base your decision entirely on which hardware you like the best. The Prime GO runs on Engine OS, a powerful operating system with continuous updates adding new and ingenious features.Algoriddim has announced a new version of its djay Pro app for Windows, now including features ported across from the company’s Apple apps, including digital vinyl system (DVS) control, Asio support, and Algoriddim’s take on real-time stems, Neural Mix.
