It's very difficult for me to rate this because I think that my opinion is a tad biased, given how much I love the movie adaptation of this. I apparently read the second one, because I have really vivid memories of several things happening, including the children visiting the 1700's and the final scene.She brings along her broomstick just in case, and they go to a Pacific island that is supposedly uninhabited and enjoy an idyllic day. I guess I would recommend this for older kids, as a chapter book, or for read alouds where you have lots of time.
