Barring a 21st Century comeback, Timecop is arguably the peak of Jean-Claude Van Damme's career as a traditional Hollywood action film star.

Again: I wasn't looking for crystalline clarity but something a little better than "flickering across a cable channel" would have been nice. Probably the most expensive ‘standard’ edition I’ve bought, but definitely my favourite Jean-Claude Van Damme film. Dux advises Jackson to focus on punches to the stomach, and warns Jackson to stay away from Chong Li's right leg. Whisper to scream dynamics and frequent directional effects are rendered with precision and accuracy.self-promotional, but covers such a broad range of subjects that it's got a little something for everyone. But Janice quickly finds another way of entry, going "undercover" posing as a date to a wealthy patron. The subplot involving Dux evading military agents trying to bring him back to the USA feels like it was added at the last moment to get the running time up to feature length. Each movie suffers from wonky skin tones (in both movies the humans seem to take on a George Hamilton-esque orange tint), to weak black levels, and excessive amounts of grain.

You see, it takes place in a time where time travel has been invented and there are nefarious people using it for very nefarious means. more "readable" detail on foreground and background objects alike, such as the urban Hong Kong signage and even costumes. His intent is to honor his Sensei Tanaka (Chiao), who trained him since he was a young boy and is now very ill.He begins reminiscing about his long relationship with Tanaka: As a youth, Frank fell in with two unruly boys who made him come with them to try and steal the sword. Chong Li exults in hearing the crowd cheer his name, and enjoys finishing his matches by maiming and crippling his opponents. A number of Kumite bouts are shown, and Dux, Chong Li, Chuan Ip Mung, Pumola, and Paco stand out, eliminating various opponents.

The officials all stand and turn their backs to Chong Li, facing the wall and bowing their heads in a moment of silence.Bloodsport' looks the worst of the two, but that probably has to do with the movie's cheapness and the fact that it came out way earlier than 'Timecop,' which, while it doesn't exactly blow away 'Bloodsport,' looks handsomer overall. But by the time Jackson turns back to face Chong Li, the burly Chinese fighter has risen back to his feet and is ready to show the whole crowd what happens to people who try to make a mockery of him. That being said, there are only very minor instances of visible print damage and no signs of excessive digital processing, leaving me under the impression that this is close to as good as the film could possibly look on home video. Rising to his feet, he throws a punch that falls well short of his mark but, unseen by everyone else, flings the powder right into Dux's eyes. The lossless encoding actually makes instances of awkward balance between dialog, music and effects and obvious post-sync dialog even more noticeable than they might otherwise be.
