Okay back, the cherry past, it comes out after what feels like thirty minutes, a distinctive and strange earthiness - a bit like freshly dressed mortar. This stuff is really, really good, much better than I thought it would be, my benchmark for Jacques Bogart being One Man Show, a cologne I do not particularly like.

I blew the old one on the other and the new one on the other, the smell of the old can be felt more firmly even after 3-4 hours, the new glass will completely fade by then. It quickly shifts its tone within minutes of spraying, after the opening there is a middle stage where the aromatic fougere is mixed with a slight powdery sweet tonka bean scent with dark undertones. It is a magnificent example where a balanced blend of a handful of notes creates an entirely new and unified olfactory impression. Very aromatic and smooth, lightly musky lavender and sweet orange blossom given strength by a woody vanillic base. This fragrance balances kind and sexy at the same time, and as much as I respect lavender it is far from being my main weapon but in this case I shall make an exception knowing full well I'll find it too boring or synthetic in a week's time.To some extent, the cologne also shares some nuances with TL pour Lui Eau de Toilette, which doesn't surprise me at all. Being a Bogart fragrance (and especially from the seventies), I also expected it to go beastmode and fill the room within seconds - but it doesn't.

In addition to the citrus and herbal (rosemary) opening and pleasant, well mixed, notes of spices and light florals with the seemingly mandatory lavender of the middle, the base here is genuinely interesting. And I am pretty confident in saying that this frag was considered a cheapie (at least for its scent) since day 1 it was sold. For the office, I'd probably just use the single spray to the chest (but haven't dared to wear it at work yet).

This smells a little retro but maintains its relevance by being well blended and offering great performance. Bogart pour Homme starts with a sweet, soapy, and mildly spicy bergamot and lavender accord but quickly morphs into an equally sweet, very powdery, woody amber composition that's only redeemed from utter banality by a quirky little bitter-astringent accent that puts some edge on the otherwise blunt accord.

After it decides to calm down, Signature becomes a cosy, mossy leather with the nostalgic connotation of your dad getting ready to go out to dinner from years gone by. this a solid classic mature cologne; the opening is a blast of fresh green herbs (not too strong) but it melts down into a very nice dry chypre and woody Fougere, it has some spices in its composition that give a deep and enchanting performance to the fragrance; birch, leather, and Oakmoss are there, especially the leather and Oakmoss notes although not too harsh in the projection, the cologne dries down in a kind of herbal and mossy smell; somehow similar to Paco Rabanne and Pour Lui(Oscar De La Renta); I could dare to say this fragrance represents the image of a mature gentleman in his 50s (I may be wrong) but to me this fragrance can only be rocked by a strong gentleman with a solid rock character and steel personality; there's no way that a metrosexual-new boy can pull this fragrance as probably he wouldn't have enough men's testosterone in his body to hold this fragrance for just one day. I'm happy to report after getting some air in the bottle, and the wonder of time, this pickled pepper opening has greatly subsided and mellowed.
