Description

Gyproc Corner Tape (30m) is bonded to two corrosion resistant metal strips and is for manual application only. It is used for reinforcing external angles in plasterboard construction and ideal for internal or external angles that are not 90°. The metal corner tape comes in consumer and contractor roll sizes varying in size from 7.6m (25'), 30m(98.4') and 30.5m (100') rolls. Other length upon customers' request. Aluminum corner tape, galvanized steel corner tape, galvalume steel corner tape and plastic corner tape are available on your request.

Once the corner is embedded, remove excess compound with taping knife. After the first coat dries, sand lightly, apply finish coat and feather edges two inches beyond edges of the first coat. If needed apply a second coat 6"- 10" wide on each side of corner. When dry, sand lightly if needed. The wide, galvanized steel strips act as a guide to ensure straight, reinforced angles for both "inside" and "outside" corner needs. Bstyle, I'm jointing the rest of the room not skimming it, so I think I'm right in saying that tape is more appropriate for this than using a corner bead. But I may be wrong.

Also, when bedding it in I presume it would be best to use a setting (rather than air drying) compound otherwise the water won't be able to evaporate out through the metal strips and the stuff wont go off. In this case would something like Easifill or Easifill 45 (a part setting, part air drying) as recommended by Bstyle be OK? Cut metal corner tape into one of the two strips with a knife to score and bend. The distance between your cuts will depend on how tight a radius you want to achieve. Apply generous coat of joint compound to a depth of 1/8", covering both sides of the corner the same time. With the metal facing the wall, fold tape at the center margin and press firmly into the compound. Metal corner tape is made of a strong paper joint tape reinforced by two parallel corrosion resistant metal or plastic strips, it is the ideal solution when dry lining and plastering archways, curved and irregular inside and outside corners, and unusual angles. A flexible corner tape! Stronger and easy to crease, this metal corner tape provides protection to both insides as well as outside corners from daily abuse. It reinforces the gypsum board corners before wallpapering, texturing or painting. This resistant to wrinkling, stretching or tearing tape is perfectly manufactured by competent professionals using special fibre paper with added tensile strength. Furthermore, it is reinforced with galvanized strip to offer rust resistance and outstanding corner protection. I've got the plasterboard corner tape (SF 87356) and am wondering how it is fixed, metal facing the plasterboard or facing out into the room?
