Description

Opt for more sustainable cooking – with the NN-CD58 Inverter Combi Microwave Oven from Panasonic. Thanks to the simultaneous use of convection, microwave and grill, you can save up to 50% energy* – unlike a conventional built-in oven or microwave oven without Inverter technology. What’s more, the cavity is smaller than with a standard oven – requiring less energy for pre-heating. The Panasonic combi oven is rich in features, then, but the highlights are 29 auto programmes, 100-220°C fan-assisted convection cooking, six microwave power levels, three grill settings and a button for a 30-second blast of power. If the brand you buy is important to you, our best advice is to spend some time writing up your own list of ideal brands. That way when you come to the point where you’re comparing product options you can filter to only show the products from brands in your list. More information on quality can be found in this old but still very helpful article from Harvard Business Review.

The brand of product you buy can vary in importance, from person to person. Some people will of course be much more particular about the brands they will use. Whilst others aren’t interested in the brand and are more interested in the overall quality or price of the product itself. Thankfully Panasonic is a brand that many customers have grown to love over the years and is very popular for items in the Microwaves category. While it requires 20% less counter space than previous models, this microwave is still quite deep for the average worktop – and bigger than most solos. However, this translates to a substantial cavity: inside you’ll find a generous 27-litre capacity and a 34cm diameter glass turntable capable of accommodating large dishes.

Panasonic NN-CD58JSBPQ 1000w, 27L slimline compact combination microwave oven with Inverter technology is ideal for family size cooking. Featuring new pre-programmed Junior Menus to help ensure that even picky eaters enjoy healthy delights. With a large control panel and 29 automatic menus it offers flexible cooking options making your daily routine simple.

Find out why Panasonic 1000W Combination Microwave Oven 27L NN-CD58-Steel scored an incredible review score of 9.0 out of 10. So let’s carry on with our Panasonic 1000W Combination Microwave Oven 27L NN-CD58-Steel review and explore the product’s pricing. The NN-CD58JSBPQ has a tremendous capacity of 27L with a large 34cm round glass turntable inside. The extra capacity provided by this microwave gives you and your family more flexibility to create greater, more elaborate dishes and plates making dinner time and family cooking that much more enjoyable. At the top of the panel, a clear display shows the function selected and a countdown timer, with a helper function that can be switched off once you’re up to speed.

Once the programme had completed, the bread still appeared to have one or two cold spots. I let it stand and, sure enough, after a few minutes the cold spots had gone – and the white of the bread was soft without the crust drying out. I’d planned to make coq au vin, too; however, since this was a combination convection recipe, my cast-iron dish wasn’t compatible. Then I moved on to a recipe for onion and feta tartlets. This involved microwaving onion with oil on High. After 10 minutes, the onions were cooked but not browned, so I gave them a few more minutes. There’s an option to add more time to any programme on the same settings, but once the door is opened, this disappears. This is frustrating, since you need to see the food to decide if it needs extended cooking. Next up is material. Read through the product description for Panasonic 1000W Combination Microwave Oven 27L NN-CD58-Steel to get an understanding of the materials the product is made from. Some materials will obviously be known for delivering better quality item than others. You might also have decided that you’ll only accept a product made from a particular material. The next step was to try and narrow down our search even more. So we’ve already looked the prices of products in the Microwaves category. Then we’ve also looked at the prices of products from Panasonic. So this step combines the two and looks specifically at the price you’d expect to pay for Panasonic branded products in the Microwaves category.

Most microwaves are fairly straightforward top operate, but given this model’s functionality, reading the lengthy instruction book is a must. On the plus side, there are recipes included that make great starting points for getting to know each function. The next step for us was to look at all of the products that fall within the Microwaves category, of which we found 69 products at Argos. So we pulled together all of the prices of these products to analyse the average prices as well as finding the cheapest and most expensive options. The NN-CD58JSBPQ’s combi capabilities are impressive, too, using conventional fanned heat or grilling with microwaving, plus clever inverter technology to cook casseroles, pasta, fish, veg, roast meat and more up to 40% faster than other combination and grill oven. The oven’s precise heat claims to help preserve vitamins and nutrients, too. Panasonic NN-CD58JSBPQ Combination Microwave Oven – Design and features

Just before we get into the detail of analysing the price of this product, we want to briefly highlight the importance of setting yourself a budget before you spend too much time shopping around for a suitable product. It’s all too often that we get carried away when shopping and find ourselves buying a fantastic product, but probably actually overdelivers on what we need and therefore costs a lot more than we should have spent. So spend a bit of time looking around at the sort of price you can expect to pay for products in the Microwaves category and use that alongside your own financial situation to set yourself a budget. Of the 69 products, we discovered that 3 were more expensive and 65 were cheaper than Panasonic 1000W Combination Microwave Oven 27L NN-CD58-Steel. Prices from Panasonic The first is brand. Looking at the brand of the product is often a really good indicator for judging product quality. For example you’d expect a much higher quality product from a brand known for providing excellent quality than you would from an unknown or even a budget brand. About halfway through there was an alert to stir the potatoes. After the time had elapsed, the potatoes were just soft enough to mash. Instead, I made brownies. This first used the Medium microwave heat (600W) to melt together chocolate and butter, which worked well. Once the mixture was ready, I baked it using the combination convection plus Simmer setting (300W) for 10 minutes at 220ºC. The brownies rose as they baked but sank towards the end. The mixture was still wet, so I baked for a further two minutes. This time, they were set but most of the chocolate chips had solidified on the bottom. The brownies were tasty but not aesthetically appealing.

Price is another really important factor for analysing the quality of Panasonic 1000W Combination Microwave Oven 27L NN-CD58-Steel vs other products in the Microwaves category. It’s obvious, but you will need to set your expectations of quality based on your budget and the price of the product you’re looking at, against the price of alternatives. As well as cyclic defrost (bursts of power and standing), the oven offers chaos defrost that’s tailored to foods such as bread and meat. This uses a random sequence of microwaving based on type and weight for faster, more even results. Next, I tested a Junior Menu programme. Each press of the button scrolled through available programmes (there are eight) and there’s a chart in the instructions to tell you which to use. I chose the purée vegetables programme for cooking 300g potatoes with water. This gave a time of nine minutes plus standing. The intelligent internal design reduces the overall footprint of this combination microwave by approx. 20% compared to conventional combination ovens, leaving you with more space available on your kitchen worktop.

As you can imagine, pricing is one of the most important factors of any purchasing decision. We can find the perfect product for our needs, that fits the brief in every single way. But if it doesn’t fit our budgets, we simply can’t (or at least shouldn’t) buy it. The next step after looking at products in the same category, was to look at products from the same brand, Panasonic.
