We have just bought and tested this weekend the Berghaus Air 8 Inflatable tent and the matching porch. The quality of the tent is very good and bedroom pods are nicely laid out at either side of the tent, with a communal area in the middle. First off, let’s just find out the fundamentals! What exactly is an air tent and why would you want one? Inflatable tents are exactly the same as an any other tent, except for one significant difference. In place of traditional metal, fibreglass or plastic poles traditional poles, the tent has inflatable beams, which can be pumped up to provide a sturdy structure. How to put up a Berghaus Air 8– is it easy?

We did get a bit of wind offering an unusual strange experience. There is no flapping as such like with a poled tent, infact it just kind of bends a bit when the wind catches hold of the air beam.

If reading this Berghaus Air 8 tent review has got you in the camping mood, try the following for some holiday inspiration! If I was to be critical the only point I would make is; the tent would benefit from additional windows, it's a tad dark, but ideal for sleeping. We love its size, plenty of room means that our family of 5 and guests have adequate room and aren’t falling over each other or all our kit. For footprint, I'm looking at the outwell perception, which is 720 x 310, so could be a bit wide, but will trim if required.

It took a while figuring out how to put it up due to the air escaping rapidly, because the instructions were vague. The air pressure for the Berghaus Air 8 inflatable family tent should be between 4psi and 7psi. How easy is it to take down the Berghaus Air 8 tent?

Recommended tent pressure: between 4psi and 7psi – temperature and outdoor pressure can affect the pressure within the tube. Please note over inflation can cause the tubes to burst. This was the first time putting up the tent (in the rain) and it took us around 30 minutes to put up the main tent and porch. It took us a bit longer as a few rookie errors were made along the way. Mostly with the porch. Getting it to lean into the tent correctly so no rain got in was a challenge. We did the best we could but properly remedied this the next day when the rain had stopped by pulling it over the main tent a little tighter with the guide ropes.Needed a bit of help from my friend's husband to put the porch up properly, but that's because it has the big sheet that goes over the top of the tent, and I couldn't get it over the top by myself. But otherwise it was easy to do. I also ended up getting the air porch - also inflatable - and Millets did me a great deal on that as well. The internal dimensions of the tent are not quite 300 x 330. The air beams take up some of the width, so you can actually only fit a carpet in of width 265. The length is not so important, as the carpet could fit under the bedrooms. But I would actually opt for something at 300 max.

The tent pumped up like a dream (once we figured out how to set the valves) however you do need a bit of strength to pump each section fully. It starts off easy but then it gets a little harder to pump the fuller it gets. We had such a great camping holiday in the Berghaus Air 8 tent and can’t for our next family camping adventures! Berghaus Air 8 tent size – stats lowdown Absolutely love the tent. With both bedrooms up there isn't that much living space, but we only used one, so we had plenty of space, plus the porch was used for the table and all our cooking stuff, so that gave us a lot more room.Fully waterproof – 70 Denier flysheet with 6000mm Hydrostatic Head and fully taped seamed with a rain hood above the door to keep you and your belongings dry. The tent and porch each comes with a pump. We got a carpet for the main tent but not the porch as we agreed the porch was going to be the main entrance for muddy shoes, cooking and eating (with two messy kids its easier to wipe a ground sheet than it is to wash a tent carpet)
