It’s difficult to leave a review about this story that will do it justice, it was simply excellent. Providing for your family is more than meeting physical needs. It also means taking responsibility to provide for emotional and spiritual needs.

Stepping Up - Penguin Books UK

It's common sense stuff. Which is fine, but not exactly what I was expecting from this one. I suppose I'll take responsibility for my internal assumptions about what I would learn from Stepping Up. It's not YOU, book, it's me. The storyline. It was just so well written. The book covers some heavy themes but it was done really well & just felt so heartbreakingly real 💔 But, nevertheless this was a funny, sad, happy and difficult read. I certainly felt all the emotions. Every child needs teaching training, modeling in the areas of character, relationships, identity, mission

With a little help from her best friend Jory and her lovely next-door neighbour, Albert, Beth is determined that this time she's not giving up. Look beyond ourselves to impact the next generation. Pass on godly values, walk the path of wisdom that is seen. One of the book's strengths is its emphasis on the interconnectedness of different areas of life, including relationships, finances, and personal growth. Izzo argues that taking responsibility in one area of life can lead to positive changes in other areas. He provides examples of individuals who have transformed their lives through this approach. The tone of the novel is very similar, at times dark and blunt but also filled with a matter-of-fact humour and moments of sheer joy.

Stepping Up: the joyful and emotional Sunday Times - WHSmith

You can (and do) make a difference every time you step up, even in the smallest way. Be that person. Be that voice . See a need. Fill a need (from Robots). I greatly respect Family Life, it was a great resource for me in my role as a single father and still is for distributing articles on fatherhood to my students. I had heard this book mentioned on a podcast (main title only), and thought it sounded good. Then, once it was in my hands, I read a bit of it and actually liked it. I didn't think I'd read it all the way through but I did enjoy it and figured since I do have 2 young sons in my home, and Mark (who was happy for me to proof it before he read it, since I'm a faster reader), I read it the whole way through. Beth is now guardian to her teenage niece and toddler nephew, catapulted into an unfamiliar world of bedtime stories, parents' evenings and cuddly elephants. Having never been responsible for anyone - or anything - it's not long before she feels seriously out of her depth. A heartwarming story about overcoming the odds and finding strength you never knew you had. An incredible debut novel, warm, uplifting and full of so much love - you won't be able to put this down. I'll be teaching the video series of this book in a prison ministry class as I feel it has a lot of insight on the role of men in their responsibility as leaders of their family and culture as men. For the great majority of the" men in prison they did not have a man in their life to emulate what Rainey seeks to do in "Stepping Up" The novel is about how Beth Pascoe, an early 30s member of the 'boomerang' generation, living at home, lurching her way from one job/hangover/failed date to the next until a tragedy strikes her close-knit family and she finds herself the sole care-giver to her fourteen year old niece and toddler nephew.

Stepping Up: How Taking Responsibility Changes Everything

Stepping Up made me laugh and cry and cringe at various points. Beth started off as a character difficult to sympathise with but as the story progressed Turner was able to make the reader really warm to her. After graduating with first-class honours in Philosophy from The University of Exeter, she dabbled in careers in finance then higher education before a ‘warts and all’ parenting blog she’d started to let off steam gathered unexpected momentum and writing became her full-time job. Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of a readiness to die." G.K. Chesterton

Stepping Up is a breakthrough leadership manifesto which urges everyone to step up and lead with courage and kindness.
