The XLED 300 has Dolby Vision and Atmos, as well as DTS:X audio support. There’s also MEMC support for motion but this TV runs Android TV instead of newer Google TV. FP and FN series The XLED 2000 is the top-of-the-line Mini LED TV with 2000 dimming zones. The TV runs on Sharp’s new platform, as do the other two Mini LEDs and the FS gaming TV, which includes Filmmaker mode. The new range includes a number of Mini LED displays, along with a new platform for the Mini LED and the FS gaming TVs

The more we studied the image to try and suss out how this spectacular conversion might have happened, the more we realised that it wasn’t just a result of the processing adding extra pixels of picture information accurately. It was also doing some striking things with the image’s contrast compared with the 2K screen, subtly but brilliantly emphasising the difference between shadow and light on a remarkably local level, to deliver an effect that made pictures look both much sharper and much deeper – almost as if they were 3D, despite the picture source being resolutely 2D. We were given the opportunity to get a first-hand look at all the TVs launching in 2022 and 2023. Here’s what we gleaned about the new features and availability. New TVs for 2022 and 2023 Additional picture modes include the self-explanatory User, Vivid and Sport. The set also supports Dolby Vision. Opt for a Dolby Vision streaming show and the presets alter to Dolby Vision Bright, Dark and Vivid. Arguably this is when you’ll see the set at its best. Warrior Nun (Netflix) plays as sharp as a demon-hunting nun’s blade. To show what it could do, Sharp had got two 60in TVs sitting side by side, one 4K model equipped with the i-Cubed system, the other a standard full HD screen, with a 1080p feed being divided into two 1080i feeds, once for each screen. Not surprisingly the 1080i feed didn’t look very special at all on the full HD screen, with very noticeable softness and a level of texture that didn’t look much higher than standard definition. On the 4k screen, on the other hand, the 1080i picture looked absolutely sensational. Forget HD; the level of detail present in the image clearly went beyond normal 1920×1080 levels into something that genuinely looked like a native 4k image.

Alternatively, you can bitstream audio out over eARC to a sound bar or AV system, and take advantage of those streaming services which support Dolby Atmos. Next up is the XLED 1000 Mini LED, which includes 1000 dimming zones. It also features a 144Hz refresh rate, the new platform, Quantum Dot colour support and runs the Google TV interface. Like the XLED 2000, it also has an integrated sound system by Harman Kardon. XLED 300Mini LED The final Mini LED is the XLED 300 with its 300 dimming zones. This TV is effectively the same as FP series model below, but features Mini LED panel technology. I measured input lag at 50.8ms (1080/60) in Game mode. First person shooters feel sluggish and unresponsive. Picture QualityThat said, this Sharp’s audio performance is rather better than you might imagine. The resident Harman Kardon supplied sound system has volume and stereophone weight. With a 12W output, it can fill an average-sized living room without sounding too shrill. The FN is seen as Sharp’s 4K UHD TV for a more mainstream audience. It features support for Dolby Vision, a 60Hz refresh rate and runs on Android TV. The downfiring speakers are tuned by Harman Kardon and there is DTS:X support but no Dolby Atmos.Sharp says the FN series is available to buy now. Sharp FS series Below the Mini LEDs are the FP and FN series. They share the same design and run on the current Sharp platform instead of the new one. The FP series is the more advanced of the two, as it features support for Dolby Atmos sound, Quantum Dot colours and MEMC motion. FP series The FP model Quantum Dot colours, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support, MEMC and a 60Hz refresh rate. There wasn’t a lot of motion in the exhibition material either, making us wonder how well the processing engine might ‘keep up’ with the demands of a high-motion scene.

If you need advice on your faulty product please feel free to ask, we will be more than happy to advise you.Naturally such heady marketing claims should be treated with a hearty degree of scepticism. But it took all of 10 seconds watching Sharp’s 60in 4K screen in action to realise that its 4K upscaling engine really is a cut above the norm. The thing is, however much our hearts, minds and especially eyes might be crying out for native 4k-resolution content in our living rooms, the simple reality is that it’s not going to happen any time soon. At least in any sort of quantity. So with 4k screens and projectors slated to go on sale this year, it’s obvious that initially, at least, these devices’ upscaling technology is going to be critical. The Android TV platform will be familiar to many, thanks to its widespread adoption. A full-screen, curated guide to linear and SVOD streaming channels via channel-based rails, it offers a plentiful supply of streaming services (including Apple TV+, Paramount+ and Disney+), plus all the mainstream catch-up channels. We're currently building two sepearate databases to give users the best and most informative ways of searching for their parts Search by Part Number Sharp will launch its new Mini LED TVs at the end of Q1 2023. The TVs have yet to receive official names, but the biggest difference between the three is the number of dimming zones available – 300, 1000 or 2000. XLED 2000 Mini LED The TV has a max refresh rate of 144Hz refresh, Quantum Dot colour support, MEMC (Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation) for motion and Dolby Vision IQ, which uses the TV’s sensor to adjust the picture settings depending on a room’s brightness so the viewer can see all the detail within the image. This sort of ‘near 3D’ effect is a classic result of a quality 4k image – yet in this instance, of course, the ‘quality 4k image’ is not a native 4k source, but rather the same mushy looking 1080i source feed showing on the 1920×1080 screen.
