Introducing Smart Dash Cams with features including Alexa, Emergency SOS Response and what3words, not seen before in any Dash Cams. You can copy the files onto your PC to save, view them using your computer's media player, or view the files using the correct Nextbase app- Replay3. If you don't clip it up, you could end up with the cable running from the front to the back of your car - which is another reason to recommend hardwiring.

Nextbase sensibly recommends you install it within the rear wiper’s path so the view isn’t obscured by dirt or rain, but doing so in many cars would also partially obscure your view out of the back and leave that cable trailing across the glass. The built-in Wi-Fi allows users to easily transfer and view their recordings on their mobile devices. Although the app leaves much to be desired, and the rear camera forces the front one to reduce its quality, the 512GW is still a great dash cam.The polariser certainly helps to make skies nice and blue, but doesn’t affect how much detail is captured. If the battery lasts for less than 3 minutes, the battery may have reached the end of it's lifespan. This is a great product fairly simple to fit all you have to do is rout the cable from the front camera to the rear window.

Perfect solution would be to assume a default position for rear PiP so no question is asked at power up, and add the ability to change the default PiP position to the menu system (left/right/never).GPS TO TRACK YOUR JOURNEY: The Nextbase 512GW features a GPS mount to record important location and speed data for your Dash Cam. The rear camera image can be shown as a picture in picture or as a reversing camera (this is done by pressing the "mode" button whilst both cameras are recording). Along with its 3" screen making it easy to check what you're recording, 140-degree viewing angle and reflection free lens you can be sure that your dash cam won't miss a thing. The rear of the 512GW is dominated by a 3-inch LCD screen with touch-sensitive buttons on either end. Recently took a motoring holiday and as the 512 quality is full HD the dash cam footage forms an integral part of the finished holiday video, and I uploaded the days clips each evening, and cleared the card before the next days clips.

Take your Dash Cam inside and plug it into mains power or a computer using the Nextbase provided USB cable. With automatic recording, the Nextbase 512GW starts recording as soon as the vehicle is turned on, ensuring no crucial moments are missed. It’s potentially a drawback of the polariser, which slightly reduces the amount of light entering the lens. There’s also an auto-dimming feature which lowers the screen brightness at night (or in low light) and another new one: time-lapse. Once your phone is connected, you can view the feed from the camera(s) and also watch recorded clips. In daylight, you should be able to make out number plates and signs with no problems, unless they’re simply too far away. This then allows the PC software to plot the location of the car on a map, which is a useful extra feature for proving where you were driving and at what speed to an insurer, should an accident happen.

If you also use the Rear Camera added, the battery life is reduced due to the additional power draw. I adjusted the rear camera angles today and it just stopped working, plenty of slack to connector so it’s not damaged the cable when adjusting. Would anyone know if Halfords are aware of these issues and would try to assist to resolve where poss? The rear cam footage Picture in Picture (PiP) mode on your 512GW or full screen, to be used as a reversing camera. The footage is very dark when driving into the sun in the morning, which makes it tough to recommend in some ways.Come dusk or night and – as with all dash cams – detail levels drop and things become much less sharp. Best response from NB is "i will ask the development team and see if we are still working ona fix for this and a new firmware will be made to combat this issue" that was said on 17 July and nothing more has been heard. The better your problem and question is described, the easier it is for other Nextbase owners to provide you with a good answer. This will record simultaneously, with both cams recording at full 1080p HD when connected onto a single micro SD card. If you upgrade to a Series 2 Camera, there are 3 different Series 2 Rear Cameras that are all compatible with the 322GW, 422GW, 522GW and 622GW.
