The good news is, this raises the entire watch off your wrist a bit and gives you a bit of extra wiggle room when moving your wrist around, adding to the overall comfort. All in all, the dial is clean and very refined. This helps make it especially suitable for all kinds of occasions.

The bit of extra height does help to add a touch of extra wrist presence, though not by much. 7S26 Movement I thought it didn’t work, I set the time gave it a few shakes and to my amazement it works perfectly! The case is more or less completely polished, including the lugs, sides, and bezel. This of course enhances the watch’s elegant look. The ref. SNZG13K1 is paired with a three-piece link stainless steel bracelet. The ref. SNZG15K1 is an identical timepiece, but mounted on a textile strap. Both versions start at around 180 USD.

The watch has rectangular applied hour markers which enhance the watch’s feeling of quality. The markers have applied Lumibrite on them which allows you to read the time in the dark. The first time I owned it, I liked it. But I didn’t love it. At the time, I didn’t have many other watches to compare it to. At the time, after wearing a dive watch for a couple of months, I thought the Seiko 5 looked too small and effeminate on me. It is a ‘smaller’ case size (37mm in diameter) and is maybe even smaller than average by modern day standards. The good news is, there is clearly no shortage of Seiko 5s to choose from, and even if the SNXS79 doesn’t do it for you, there are plenty of other expensive-looking Seiko 5s to choose from. Why I Bought the SNXS79 Thrice (Yes, Three Times) I also wasn’t a fan of the all polished case of the SNXS79, and how easily the mineral crystal smudged up and looked ‘dirty’ from fingerprint smudges all the time (little did I know, sapphire crystals can be WORSE about this sometimes).

If there is a SNXS77J1 it is made in Japan, has "Made in Japan" written on the dial and is more likely to have Arabic as the second language on the day dial. It doesn’t have any screws, or even pushpins, like most bracelets, so sizing it can be extremely difficult. The watch has a water resistance of 30M/3ATM. This is a downside of this movement as it is certainly not a lot. It can handle water splashes but should not be submerged. At the same time, it is important to consider that this watch is made as an everyday timepiece, and therefore, good water resistance is not crucial. Once again, the SNXS's water resistance is on par with every other cheap Seikos. The push & pull crown only allows for 30m of water resistance, which is ok for a few splashes here and there, but nothing more.If there is a SNXS77K1 or SNXS77P1 it is made elsewhere in Asia, does not say "Made in Japan" on the dial and is more likely to have Spanish as the second language for the day. If you are looking for a clean and elegant automatic everyday watch that you can count on, Seiko is definitely a brand you should look at. It has a domed crystal and a case that’s scratched up, and has so much character, in my opinion. What is a Seiko 5?

Seiko is known for generally having very strong lume on their watches, but some of the Seiko 5 models fall short in this area. The Seiko 5 SNXS73K has a matte silver dial with rectangular applied markers with polished metal frames around them and applied Lumibrite on them. The dial gives it a wonderful look as it reflects the light beautifully. It has a minute and hour hand made in polished metal with bevels which allows them to reflect the light beautifully as well. The hands, similar to the hour markers, have rectangular shapes, and also applied Lumibrite on them.I think the brushing on the bracelet kind of looks out of place – like it doesn’t belong on this watch. Especially since there are absolutely no brushed surfaces on the case to tie the look together. It’s well-known that we’re big fans of the Seiko 5 line here at Worn & Wound, and I’m certain that it’s a sentiment shared by many watch lovers across the spectrum of collecting. Because they’re very cheap, Seiko 5 watches are often called the ultimate gateway into mechanical timekeeping — the first steps into the shallow end of the pool before the obsession takes hold and we get pulled into the deep end. But I think that does a disservice to these timepieces because, money considerations aside, these are truly great watches that punch well above their weight. Zach, who’s probably handled thousands of watches at this point and has owned some truly wonderful pieces over the years, still wears his SNK regularly, and that’s because the watch simply holds up. Most all of them feature a relatively prominent ‘5’ badge under the Seiko logo at the top. I used to think the badge was kind of… Over the top. And took up too much dial real estate.

It doesn’t last for an extremely long time, but fades out gradually and helps the watch be more legible in the dark and at night. Folded Link Bracelet I’d not quite go as far to say it’s an Oyster Perpetual homage. Just that it takes some really well-designed aspects from the watch. In 2020, Seiko incorporated the 5 Sports series into the Seiko 5 collection. The collection thus comprises the Sports, Suits, Street, Specialist, and Sense series in addition to classic Seiko 5 models. While the Sports line mostly offers diving and pilot's watches, you'll find some colorful, stainless steel diving watches in the Suits line as well. The Seiko Sense and Street series are home to playful, multicolored designs. Lastly, the Specialist line features diving watches made of stainless steel, some of which have a bronze or golden exterior.

The brilliant and rich sunburst grey dial looks really dynamic and with the all polished stainless steel case, the look really comes together to create the appearance almost of that of a Rolex Oyster Perpetual homage, but with enough unique design elements to stand on its own in terms of originality.
