Besides the width of his shoulders, this is the other area that SS86 Ultra Magnus has been criticized for is his massive girth. As I've alluded to in this writeup, Magnus is a big boy. Motormaster (like the recent Leader Primes) had a trailer that was way too short, though. Hopefully that's not the case with Magnus because the coolest thing about the original was that it was a functional car carrier. Since Magnus's trailer isn't solid, though, hopefully they can get it to stretch out a bit longer. This character article is a stub and is missing information on their fictional appearances. You can help Transformers Wiki by expanding it. Don't Oversleep and Forget Things!! Go! Go! issue 15 Sprout Up He's definitely shorter than most of the other Commanders, but for me at least he has 100% earned that Commander price point: Not only is the quality of the plastic just fantastic, but there is a lot of it. Seriously, he might be short but when weighing them in hand Magnus feels about as heavy as Armada Optimus and Jetfire! He is super dense, with no hollow bits anywhere on him.Battle Core Optimus Prime" is a white redeco and slight retool of the previous Combiner Wars Optimus figure. According to the Hasbro panel at BotCon 2015, his new head is based on Star Convoy (see above). Ultra Magnus makes his first appearance in the Japan-exclusive Transformers: Scramble City (1986). Scramble City never made it to the United States, so most Americans did not see him until the 1986 animated film. This mold was further retooled as Legends Super Ginrai, which was redecoed into Siege On Cybertron Magnus Prime. Although the American animated series ended with the three-parter "The Rebirth" storyline, it was decided in Japan to continue production of new episodes. To that end, "The Rebirth" wasn't aired there, and in its place, a new 35-episode series, Transformers: The Headmasters was in production.

With the Decepticons momentarily abated due to a temporary truce, Magnus joined Prime as he surveyed the ruined Light Gardens that had once flanked Crystal City, and later joined the Autobot leader as he and his followers set out for nearby Darkmount. However, while travelling, they came under assault from a swarm of rust worms and Jhiaxus, who'd taken command of Strika's unit and knowingly violated the truce as part of a bid to eliminate the Autobots. Radical Time Magnus and the other Autobots fought the worms for as long as they could, and as they began to falter, Termagax saved them by reprogramming the Insecticlone swarm to consume the worms instead, and in doing so eliminated two threats to Cybertron in one stroke. End of TimeThough undocumented in the instructions, Ultra Magnus' trailer can hitch with 1 or 2 Legends Class and/or Deluxe Class cars with smaller mass, with the lower leg panels serving as a makeshift ramp. Furman, Simon (2004). Transformers: The Ultimate Guide. DK Publishing Inc. p.111. ISBN 1-4053-0461-8. The character also made one appearance in Dreamwave Productions' Summer Special in a story presented as being in continuity with the animated series, which pitted him against Scourge, as both denied and debated their Autobot heritage and relation to Optimus Prime. No further RiD stories were published by Dreamwave before their closure, as Beast Wars claimed victory over RiD in a poll to choose the next mini-series.
