As a busy Veterinary Clinic, when it came time to replace our flooring, we had a few criteria that had to be met. We needed to make sure our four legged visitors would be safe on a non slip floor, but we also wanted the floor to look amazing and less clinical that standard Veterinary flooring. It also needed to be durable! Dogs do have accidents!

The downside to tile is that it can be cold underfoot which is the last thing you want to feel first thing in the morning! However, there are many options available such as underfloor heating or opting for Vinyl tiles (LVT) that don’t have a cold touch. Don’t delay in seeing a vet. If caught in the early stages, many of these medical issues are treatable or manageable – your pup will have a better life for it! You know the tires on your car? As they wear down or get damaged, they don’t grip the road properly. To get the best of both worlds, use rugs and cushions alongside hard flooring like laminate, engineered wood or LVT. Some are small enough to roll up and toss in the washing machine. How long does dog-friendly flooring last?Engineered wood flooringis a cheaper alternative to solid wood and is again extremely versatile and easy to fit into any room in the house. All of our engineered wood flooring is designed to look like hardwood flooring – but with a cheaper price, it’s a perfect choice for refitting your floors on a budget. Everything went smoothly, the floors look fantastic and we’ve had really great comments from our clients. The top layer of engineered wood flooring is still real hardwood, but it’s easier to install, often cheaper, and can be used easily with underfloor heating. As the surface of solid wood and engineered wood flooring is essentially the same, both can be scratched by dog nails. This can lead them to be extra cautious as they walk across a slippery floor. Unfortunately, awkwardly walking across the floor can only make the problem worse.

If you’re choosing a dog-friendly wood flooring, look for lighter colours and harder wood species. You could also choose rustic or distressed wood styles, which will camouflage any dog-related imperfections.A cookie set by YouTube to measure bandwidth that determines whether the user gets the new or old player interface. Avoid wall-to-wall carpeting. “For a lot of reasons, I guide dog owners away from wall-to-wall carpeting as the fibers trap dog hair, dirt, and dander,” explains Modica. “Dog hair is ultimately impossible to completely remove from the fibers, which dulls the color and acts as a trap for even more dog hair and dander.” Stains are harder to remove, and they can sink into the padding underneath, along with dander. No matter how hard you try, it’s not set up to stay clean. Now, you do have to regularly apply this non-slip wax to the bottom of your dog’s paws. I was able to get about a day out of each application, although I would need to reapply if my dog went outside. If you love the look of stone and tile, luxury vinyl tile is cheaper and warmer underfoot. How does LVT flooring cope with dog urine? Wooden flooring can be a good choice for pet owners, although it is important to remember that there are many different types of wooden flooring and some will be better than others at withstanding the extra demands placed on them by dogs.
